Climate Talks: From Forest Stories to New Conservation Perspectives
Home can be a tree hollow, a mangrove, a patch of forest—or a very crowded Mumbai apartment. Different addresses, same basic idea: everyone needs a place to thrive. But who gets to call a place home? And what happens when our habitats overlap? Those questions sit at the heart of biodiversity conservation—and this month’s Climate Talks.
Planet Pact is bringing together naturalists and conservationists to share stories, perspectives, and a closer look at the communities working alongside nature. And if you’re wondering how all of this comes together, well… let’s follow the thread and see where it takes us.
Every Habitat Has a Story
A habitat is a living, messy, interconnected system—and humans are very much part of it. The way we build, farm, fish, travel, consume, and conserve can shape what survives alongside us. And with World Habitat Day around the corner, understanding our role in biodiversity conservation and exploring community-led solutions makes for the perfect theme for this edition of Climate Talks.
But unlike previous Climate Talks events, this one will press play before it opens the floor. Instead of diving straight into a panel discussion, the evening will begin with Whispers in the Rain—a documentary series produced by Amit Banka and Vana Bhashi and selected for the AltEff and Voices of the Valley Festival—setting the scene for the conversations that follow.
After the screening, there’ll be a little quiz to shake things up before we get started with the Climate Talks discussion.

From Screen Time to Talk Time
The evening will then open up into Climate Talks, bringing together speakers with different experiences and perspectives to share stories from their work with nature and the communities connected to it—and what it really means to work alongside both.
Pratiksha Kothule — A Field Ecologist and Assistant Manager at Raah Foundation, Pratiksha will bring a hands-on perspective on biodiversity, conservation, and the communities that live alongside nature.
Rohan Korgaonkar — Founder Member of Malabar Nature Conservation Club, Rohan will share his experience of working closely with nature and exploring how communities can play a meaningful role in conservation.
Vikram Vyawahare — Co-founder of Vana Bhashi, Vikram will bring the perspective of a naturalist, sharing stories and insights into understanding, interpreting, and protecting the biodiversity around us.

And once the conversation wraps up, it’ll be time to switch from climate talk to good old-fashioned networking—with yummy snacks, plenty of chatter, and hopefully a few new connections along the way. All you’ll have to do to be part of it is register using the link below.
Come Curious, Leave With Something to Think About
This World Habitat Day, let’s pause and think about the places we share with the countless species and communities that call them home. A tree, a mangrove, a forest, a wetland—or even a city—can tell us a lot about the delicate relationships that shape life around us. Protecting biodiversity isn’t only about saving species; it’s also about understanding these relationships and finding ways for people and nature to thrive together.
This is exactly what Climate Talks will unpack. This edition will bring different perspectives into one room, creating space to hear stories from the field, exchange ideas, and look at biodiversity conservation and community-led solutions from different angles. So, if you’re curious to hear from people working closely with these issues and see where their experiences take the conversation, this will definitely be an evening worth being part of.
Let’s get more people in the room — Bring a friend, bring your curiosity, and join us!
